Hey girl hey!
I’m De’Asia, a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor in Ohio and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Tennessee. I founded Rise Counseling Group to focus on improving anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms among Black women and other Women of Color—a mission close to my heart.
I earned my BA in Criminology with a minor in African American and African Studies from The Ohio State University, where I also completed a Masters in Social Work, specializing in adolescent mental health. I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Social Work at The Institute for Clinical Social Work. My research and practice are deeply intertwined with psychodynamic theory, healthy relationships & friendships, diversity, and social justice.
Over my career, I’ve worked in various settings, including residential treatment for kids and teens, developing programs for high-risk college students, inpatient psychiatric care, and college counseling. These experiences inspired me to start Rise Counseling Group to specifically support marginalized populations in a nurturing therapeutic environment.
As a trained EMDR therapist and an adjunct professor of Social Work, I not only provide therapy but also train and supervise future social workers aiming for independent licensure in Ohio. I often speak and present on topics vital to our communities, such as mental health, single parenthood, motherhood, child development, bullying, and setting boundaries. In my practice, I emphasize the profound impact of race, gender, and other intersecting identities on mental health.
I’m here to support and empower you on your journey toward mental wellness, understanding the unique challenges we face as Black women and Women of Color in today’s world.
I can be seen in the office or online on Tuesday & Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 11 am to 3 pm, and two Saturdays per month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. To request an appointment, please go to our client portal online.
