Founder
De’Asia is a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor in the State of Ohio and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Tennessee. She is the owner of Rise Counseling Group in Dayton, OH. Rise Counseling Group specializes in reducing anxiety and depression among African American women and other Women of Color.
De’Asia attended The Ohio State University graduating with a BA in Criminology with a minor in African American and African Studies. She also graduated from tOSU with a Masters in Social Work with a concentration in adolescent mental health. She is currently working on a PhD in Clinical Social Work at The Institute for Clinical Social Work which focuses on the application of psychodynamic theory in various settings; diversity; and social justice. In addition to her therapy practice and school, she is an adjunct Social Work professor and licensure supervisor/ trainer for other Social Workers seeking independent licensure in Ohio. She is a trained EMDR therapist.
Through the course of her career, De’Asia has worked in residential treatment for kids and teens, higher education (high-risk student program development), inpatient psychiatric care, and college counseling. Her experiences led to the development of Rise Counseling Group, in which she is able to give special attention to marginalized populations in a therapeutic environment. De’Asia speaks and presents on mental health, single parenthood, motherhood, child development, bullying, and boundaries. De’Asia focuses on how issues around race, gender and other intersecting identities impact the mental health of her clients.
