She/her
Clinical Therapist
Hello, my name is Lauren Freeman. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with almost five years of experience working in the mental health field. It is my passion to work with Black women, femmes, and girls in healing from their trauma, reclaiming their wholeness, and finding peace, rest, and joy in a world that is committed to silence and erasing our experiences.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Cleveland State University, and I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Malone University. I have experience working with underserved populations across the life span, including those with disabilities, chronic illnesses, individuals in poverty, and LGBTQ+ populations. I am a trauma-informed clinician with knowledge in how trauma affects the mind, body, and soul. I use various modalities based on and depending on individual client needs, including CBT, DBT, trauma-informed CBT, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing. I am also a 200 hr certified yoga instructor, and I am currently seeking training and certifications in somatic, brain-body modalities, such as brainspotting, EFT, and internal family systems, so that I can provide my clients with a holistic approach to their treatment and healing process. I strongly believe that while our brains and bodies learned to adapt to trauma, we can also teach our brains and bodies to adapt to safety and resilience.
When I’m not working with others or on myself, I love to relax and take my time doing the things I love. I enjoy working out and doing yoga. I enjoy going to my monthly dance classes, reading, writing, singing (though I am not the best), painting, going on walks and hikes, playing the Sims, traveling to new places, and spending time with my husband and two children.
